The Victorian bushfire appeal will receive a much needed shot in the arm thanks to Sony Music and some of it's highest profile recording stars.
The double Album 'Bushfire Aid - Artists For The Bushfire Appeal’ was pulled together mere days after the bushfires struck and has become one of the years highest selling albums, generating $1.6 million for the Salvation Army.
Denis Hanlin, CEO of Sony Australia said:
“I am absolutely delighted with the public’s support for the Bushfire Aid CD which has now raised $1.6. The support from retailers, TV, print and radio media partners, artists, composers, publishers and digital channels has been truly outstanding. We look forward to presenting the donation cheque to the Salvation Army Bushfire Appeal very soon in the bushfire affected area.”
The album featured songs from Anthony Callea, John Farnham, Delta Goodrem, Shannon Noll, Empire Of The Sun and Vanessa Amorosi to name just a few, with each artist who contributed waiving their royalties and Sony DADC Australia donating the manufacturing costs of the CD.
The good folk at JoyFM have uploaded some wonderful treats for us from Anthony's stint as cohost of the Andy and Adrian Breakfst show this morning.
The first link is to an amazing acapella version of More Than Words, sang totally on the fly without rehearsal or warm up, to fulfill a listeners request - the second to a short 'interview' where Anthony talks about his trip to the US and updates us on his 3rd album.

Enjoy some reviews of these two Gems:
"Callea has a rare talent, a beautiful voice that reaches people across generations" - Better Living Magazine
"demonstrates world class albums can indeed be made in Oz" - - Daily Telegraph
"Callea has the voice to carry off big - and we're talking industrial strength - ballads."-Herald Sun
A stellar offering that will not only satisfy the 'balladeers' but also we picky pop rock punters, who only like quality in our music. Track after track on this album, Callea proves that he can certainly write a tune, some strong enough to take on the likes of Ben Moody (ex-Evanescence) and the big hit makers of Sweden like Max Martin. This is definitely not puerile sugar-coated-pop, its soulful, well structured proper pop music that will appeal to a large market that like great lyrics, smooth vocals and style. - Pop Republic
Anthony Callea has again stepped up to help those less forunate.
